Black - Eyed Susans Rudbeckia fulgida      This staple of the perennial garden blooms from summer through autumn with a show of golden yellow flowers with black cones.  It is very easy to grow and will tolerate poor soil, heat and drought.  A Perennial Plant Association Plant of the Year in 1999, the Black - Eyed Susan is also the State flower of Maryland.
